SB115 attacks Kentucky small businesses that rely on revenue from drag performers and criminalizes the performers themselves. Drag is one of the oldest forms of entertainment. For centuries women were banned from performing on stage. The long gowns the men wore would drag on the stage floor. That’s where the term drag show originated from. Drag has been embedded in our culture for centuries. We’re surrounded by drag and grew up with it. Hollywood, the entertainment industry, Mardi Gras, Broadway, the music industry, music concerts and award shows, ballet and figure skating are drag shows. Much of this is watched from our own homes too.

SB150 puts some of our state’s most vulnerable kids at risk by allowing teachers and administrators to ignore proper names and pronouns for transgender students. Studies show that acknowledging trans kids’ names and pronouns reduces their risk of suicide by more than 50%.
HB470 would allow the state to overrule parents’ rights to obtain certain health care services for their transgender children. Without these life-saving services, many of Kentucky’s transgender kids will experience higher rates of depression, self-harm, and ultimately suicide.
A recent Mason-Dixon poll shows 71% of Kentucky voters oppose this type of government overreach that infringes on parents’ rights. I am one of them and I am your constituent.
Please stand with me to protect Kentucky’s kids and oppose these harmful measures.
Thank you for your time and service to Kentucky.
