Ethan Osborne, who’s the Captain of the Kentucky Pirate Party, attended a fundraiser November 13th in eastern Kentucky that was hit by the floods this August. They fed over 100 people whose lives have been devastated.
While there, the community has come together to help raise money for their local volunteer fire department that has received no government assistance. The Rousseau Volunteer Fire Department are the driving force behind how anyone living in the region receives any food, clothing, furniture, or help.
For now, the only way to donate is using the above QR code. Thank you!
Kentucky Pirate Party member Bingo, who’s also @revoltnrebel2 on TikTok, sent us these pictures and her report below from that event. Ethan will soon also be writing his report about attending.
Ahoy!
Rousseau Volunteer Fire Department is in Breathitt county Kentucky, nearest city is Jackson, KY. The area has been majorly affected by the flood in July 2022. This area has received no government assistance, nor assistance from large organizations. They rely entirely on individual and small group donations, mutual aid, etc. The Rousseau Volunteer Fire Department is made up strictly of volunteers. They are the driving force behind how anyone living in this holler receives any food, clothing, furniture, or help. These firefighters had one work truck that they rescued most of the people of Breathitt county in, as well as took food and supplies to these people. Unfortunately, this truck has broken down, most likely due to the flood, and is probably beyond repair. The volunteer fire department is now having to use personal vehicles to continue to assist people, putting wear and tear on their own vehicles, and having to worry about how long their own vehicles will last. They need a new truck (or 2)!
They are also in need of a wash sink. The community building that they opened up to store supplies and feed people currently does not have any way of washing dishes. A new sink would allow many dishes to be able to be washed, and more people to be fed.
